Frequently Asked Questions
Your freediving questions, answered
What is freediving?
Freediving is the practice of diving underwater on a single breath — no tanks, just breath-hold skill and technique. It can be a peaceful exploration sport or competitive discipline, making it ideal for beginners and experienced divers alike
How long can a beginner hold their breath?
Most newcomers can comfortably hold their breath for 1–2 minutes. With proper training — breathwork, relaxation, and dryland exercises like static apnea — you’ll build duration gradually over time
What are the risks and how do I stay safe?
Safety is vital. Risks include shallow-water blackout or ear barotrauma. That’s why we emphasize: never freedive alone, learn proper equalization (like the Frenzel technique), monitor dive times, and always follow buddy protocols
Do I need special gear to start?
Just basic gear: a low-volume mask, long freediving fins, and optional wetsuit. We provide complete beginner sets in our classes, so you can dive ready and confident.
Can anyone do it? Age or fitness restrictions?
Yes! Freediving is accessible to most people regardless of age or athletic background. Even if you’re not yet comfortable in the water, we’ll guide you at your pace and help you feel safe and supported.
Will I get certified?
Our intro sessions offer participation recognition. For full certification offers internationally recognized Molchanovs certifications for students who complete the requirements through our structured programs.
